Temporal: lasting for a short time; brief, measured time; religiously connected with life in the world. On my father’s side of my family, each member died from some form of cancer. Recently, it has begun to rear its ugly head again unexpectedly in the next generation with the result of the loss of my youngest sister to lung cancer. I painted this piece especially for the Beyond Cancer exhibit. It is a very personal piece from the selection of size, color, to the slick smooth area encrusted by thick texture. This encaustic abstract represents release, stamina, change, fortitude, endurance, determination, it’s temporal.
