My image was
inspired by my mother. My experience with her illness was life
changing. I painted my most vivid memories of that vulnerable
time. “Waiting Room” captures one moment when you
are sitting and waiting in this strange room where time slows
down and people come and go. I remembered my mother’s phrase,
“Once a man twice a child.” With an illness at any
age, you return to being a child and being cared for. I saw it
in this room. My work also reflects an unexplainable fascination
with the human form. I feel the need to expose their message.
I can see it behind the eyes, the gesture, the being. Their message
is honest and true.
