In October, 2005, I was diagnosed with lung cancer. I remember standing on a mountain before my surgery, and really affirming “I want to live!!!” over and over again. I was determined to heal. When I got back into my photography, a new body of work was emerging, which I called “Light Series”. I was fascinated by light, translucence, luminosity. And that paralleled my inner life, as I have been about healing and remaining cancer-free, I have been focused on letting more light in, releasing the past, freeing myself into the present. This work has been a part of my healing. What emerged is a series, one of which you see here.
