As we begin to understand our universe, we are symbolically brought out of the darkness
of the ignorance and into a realm of color and knowledge. Mindy Weisel uses a spacescape as a visual metaphor for human knowledge. She dedicated this painting to women astronauts and scientists who "have shown us the color and beauty that exists behind this darkness."
