The view of Mars from space is composed of a great variety of textures, colors, and patterns, juxtaposed against one another. The starry expanse of space above the planet is similarly rendered, creating a curved and layered cosmos that shares a common language with Mars. The artist drew inspiration from photo-collage pictures of Mars, composed from images taken by the Mars Global Surveyor and sought to celebrate its complexity and suggest that within its appreciation lies the greatest opportunity for discovery.
